Collector-Grade Puros Indios Premium Cigars
Cigar collectors and connoisseurs welcome the Puros Indios cigars after four years of aging by the Danli, Honduras premium cigar maker. Viejo means “old” in Spanish, and the name befits these extra-aged and exclusive premium cigars. Rolled and cached in 1998, the Viejo is significant in being the first of a series of annual releases of Puros Indios Collectible Cigars. The Viejo shapes are the classical Cuban designations of Churchill (49 x 7), Toro (52 x 6), Rothschild (50 x 5), #4 (44 x 5-1/2 and a #2 (46 x 6-1/2). Carlos Diez is Director of Sales and grandson of 78-year old company founder and active cigar master Rolando Reyes, Sr. He reports “Puros Indios cigars enjoy almost cult status now. We only set aside 50,000 Viejos for aging, which just makes them more desirable. “My grandfather’s long and extensive relationship with top tobacco growers ensures the quality of the tobacco is superlative,” Senor Diez adds. “It is blended to his special decades-old recipe. Being a Special-Vintage Edition of our classic Puros Indios line, grandfather chose the same - more - Puros Indios Cigars Viejo Page 2 tobaccos: Ecuadorian-grown Sumatra-seed wrapper and Ecuadorian binder; Brazilian and Dominican filler, with Jamaican leaf for aroma and solid ash. The wrapper shades are natural and maduro. Now, after four years of aging, the medium- to medium-full bodied cigar is even more rounded, the different tobaccos having harmonized.” To enhance the Viejo’s collectibility and individuality, Puros Indios has commissioned an artist to create a custom box, and to design the box art and ring. The cigars will be presented twenty to the box .
