Extra Long Casa Magna Lancero
Released:
The Casa Magna Colorado Lancero, an ultra-long, slim smoke that was
originally only available as part of a limited-edition sampler pack
containing other sizes, has been added as a standard size to the
Casa Magna Colorado brand.
Unlike traditional lanceros, which measure 7 1/2 inches long by 38
ring gauge, these cigars stretch 8 1/4 inches long with a ring gauge
of 40. The measurements mimic a discontinued size brand owner Manuel
"Manolo" Quesada began making more than 30 years ago.
"A long, long time ago we made a cigar called a Largo Delgado," said
Quesada in an interview with Cigar Insider. Delgado is Spanish for
thin, and largo means long, and when Quesada began rolling it in the
late 1970s in his Manufactura de Tabacos S.A. factory in Santiago,
Dominican Republic, it was one of several thin cigars that he sold
in great amounts for the time. "Back then thin cigars sold. We sold
thousands of them every month. Then all of a sudden, they died."
Quesada discontinued the size years ago, but brought it back—with
the addition of a pigtail—in the Casa Magna Colorado blend last
year, when the cigar was offered as part of the Emperador
Collector's Box, which also contained four other sizes. Quesada
believes the boxes have sold out. |
